apple music high resolution on old Mac
« on: September 16, 2021, 02:08:47 PM »
So currently I am using Tidal and would like to try Apple Music with high resolution option but I only have an old Macbook Pro 2012 and updated to version 10.15.7 but it cant be update to latest so that Itunes display "high resolution" option.
Am I stuck with this and have to buy a new mac just for high resolution streaming ?

Knowing Apple, that wouldn't surprise me, but then again, neither do I know for sure, maybe try email their support desk, good luck..

Why don't you try Amarok or TunesGo?

I understand Winamp also works

I am using my old 2014 Mac Air for this purpose.

Upgraded to macOS Big Sur last night - please make sure you have at least 36 gig available.

If not enough available - transfer to memory stick to free up space .

Busy listening to it now - all in high res lossless.

Quite happy with end result.

I think that I am going for the Audirvana option, it cost a bit but it is a lot cheaper than a new Macbook and will outperform any Apple music player and can stream.

Who can help...I take it a Macbook is a much better music player than an Iphone connected to DAC with USB?
