Have not had much success with kettles for a gas stove

Brought one from England which must be all of 40 years old.  Worked well except the bakelite handle became brittle and was dangerous to lift up
Got a larney one from Takealot costing R500 odd
This has a stainless steel base and takes ages to boil
If you put 500ml water in the kettle and the same amount in a copper-bottomed pot and close the lid, the pot gets the water boiling a minute faster
Last week the TaL one started to leak at the bottom, so that is going back

Had a look at what is on offer and it seems all models sold are related to appearance, not functionality

Any recommendations please
