Second (actually, third) play - same album, different turntable. It took me a while, but this afternoon I finally finished rebuilding this lovely little AR XA turntable. Headshell repaired, Excel ES70s cart and new stylus fitted, tonearm rewired, broken universal voltage selector removed and rewired for 230VAC, capacitors replaced and everything else given a bit of a spit and polish. Looks good and sounds great! Another classic lives to keep on playing music! :-)

Johnny McLaughlin, Electric Guitarist. Railway Cuttings, Sunnyside, Yorkshire. On a windy Sunday afternoon in Cape Town...

With, on this album: Billy Cobham, Jerry Goodman, Carlos Santana, David Sanborn, Patrice Rushen, Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Jack de Johnette and Jack Bruce, to name just a few! Music as it should be…

I love music - analog and digital. Even listening to the Blues makes me happy. During the day I coach and counsel, after hours I indulge in my second passion - listening to vinyl and restoring turntables. Some I keep, some I sell...

Anyone know of a good pressing of this (within reason)

Those SL-Q2's sound very good - Quartz lock is a bonus . Is it a SL1200 with RB300 next to it ? The Garrard with the garish plinth is cool !  ;D

Really enjoying this one from Mike’s castaway ECM pile:

Nik Bartsch’s Mobile - Continuum

And again.  Definitely some Steve Reich style repetition with minimal changes going on

A bit of classic synth-pop

Architecture and Morality - Orchestral Manouevres in the Dark

Stone cold classic.  Took the melancholy of ‘Organisation’, dropped in the pop nouse of their debut and made it massive.  Three quality hits (Souvenir and the two about Joan of Arc) and everything around them is even better (Sealand is the tune Kraftwerk were too unemotional to make)

And now the bastard offspring of Neu! and Suicide:

Moon Duo - Mazes

A bit of an in between album IMHO, still working out how to really meld those keyboards and the psych guitar stuff.  When they decided to add a drummer it really started to sound fuller and the Duo could spread out a bit more.  No less great though!
