Hi all,

I work for a specialised blow-moulding company.  Essentially we melt plastic, make a sleeve of molten plastic, and then blow air into the sleeve inside a water-cooled mould to make containers from 1 to 25 liters.

As the process is a thermal one, the impact of loadshedding is much more than just the actual lights-out time. On the previous 4-hour load shedding schedule we lost around 10% of our installed capacity per stage of loadshedding on affected days.  With the new 2-hour schedule introduced in February, we now lose 15% of capacity per loadshedding stage. At Stage 4 it is almost not worth starting up, with almost 2/3 of our capacity destroyed.

We are now considering a 600kW or 1000kW standby generator to offset the effects of loadshedding.  The diesel will cost 3.5x as much as our Eskom-supplied electricity, but we really don't have much of a choice.  Can anyone recommend a dependable, value-oriented supplier from personal experience?  We are based in Cosmo City, Roodepoort.

Many thanks,

Francois
