Telkom fiber router support
« on: June 04, 2021, 09:24:17 AM »
Hey guys, got a sad sad call from a friend with an octogenarian mother who apparently got a fiber upgrade directly from Telkom and now that she had to replace a broken phone there is zero ways to find out the wifi password. Who the service providers or other parties are is all unknown, "a guys just came and worked for an hour and set up her phone".
Apparently with Telkom it's only tickets and SMS's and no actual recourse, and as with all fiber providers there is no user logon credentials to just change the details.
Of course one can just buy an external AP but that's unnecessary expense.
Anyone with advice?

I once played with a Vodacom router and wanted to gain access to the web GUI.
Pressing the reset button defaults it to Vodacom's login details, not the standard admin/admin.

A bit of searching online found me the 'secret' login credentials.

Perhaps there is a similar solution with Telkom routers.

The default password should be at the back of the router - maybe check there

Default password is usually admin
When I had issues I called Telkom and they reset the account and VDSL router on the phone.
The Hauwii router into which the fibre plugs into doesn't have a log in or password
