I need to do something to fill the 20-60Hz hole in the VOTT?s performance, and had no plans for the weekend. Kismet.

I really didn?t look very far. I?ve built a few of Steve Deckert?s designs, and have never been let down. A few weeks ago I arranged to buy the WO32 plans, a double tapered horn, using two 10 inch drivers. Also managed to source a pair of beautiful Seas drivers, sensitive, 25Hz Fs. Low power handling and a long coil in a short gap.

Ordered a sheet of Wisa birch ply cut in the strips I would need, and moved the cars out of the garage, things were going to get serious.

Fast forward a few days, and we have a result. Granted there is more wood filler than wood in the build (I?m a functional carpenter at best).

System does an honest 25Hz, but the speed of the low bass is a thing to behold. Whereas other subs I have tried made the A7s sound a little muddy, slightly disconnected from the music, this gives them a subtle sense of scale which wasn?t there, yet changes almost nothing else.

The curve, uncrossed and unfiltered.

Finished (you can use the cabinet in carpet as a sort of a periodic membrane, or with a wood base).
