What in-line AC spike protector would you recommend from your personal experience?
I know there's a thread elsewhere about voltage fluctuations etc. Suffice to say that I started a similar thread a year or two ago - same topic with my home's voltages fluctuating from 190volts to 315volts in less than 4 minutes - psu eliminator. Lost microwaves and so much other stuff.
So that lead me to leave everything in the house unplugged. Except for the fridge and security.
So, a lot of waffle to get to my point (ek vra djammer!):
Like most power amps mine sounds best when at consistently warm operating temperature. This means I have to leave it plugged in and switched on. Else it takes up to 30 minutes to reach proper operating temp. And i have 2 hours a month to enjoy the system. In the current load shed scenario I can't leave it plugged in - the escom-induced risk is too high. I can't lose a R165k unit thanks to a reckless SOE.
So, looking for a proper spike protector. Most are too slow. The red Ellies unit is an option.
What though, would you recommend?
