I think the m40x sounds much better when its driven poorly, otherwise there's WAY too much bass.

Not used them but been seeing almost all reviews of the HE-400SE being more positive, including direct comparison. I was going to pick up a pair from lumous-audio, but found a pair of used Sundaras.

I just picked up a new pair of HE400se for a lark and they really are amazingly good at the price.

Over on Carbonite. Didnít save too much (it was an Ifi Zen stack and the Sundaras, so a good deal for the whole package, but more than I had planned to spend)  :shh: sorted for headphones for a while now.

And glad to hear the HE400se are great. Their pricing seems quite aggressive to compete with cheaper dynamics.
