A family member visited this weekend and brought some CDs with him. These were mostly instrumental stuff bought from look&listen back in the 90s.
Going through his disc's I noticed that a few of them displayed the "HDCD" sign on my rotel rcd1570....
And man did I hear a difference in the quality.
Absolutely loved the sound. Bass lines were much cleaner and highs were crisper. I did some research and found that hdcd is actually a 20bit encoding as opposed to the normal 16 bit. I guess if you don't have the appropriate kit, one would not hear the difference.
I truly heard what this combo of the rcd1570 ra1570 is capable of. Sadly, these cds are rare nowadays.
