It is a studio interface so you will probably have to take the built-in DAC along with whatever headphone amp is in there.

Product specification page says the headphone amplifier is powerful, but that does not mean much, it depends on what headphone you intend to use it with, especially impedance wise and I could not find specific specifications for this. Since this is a studio interface it would likely be aimed at use with studio headphones where finding high impedance headphones can be a bit rarer (though there are popular models in this category out there).

The 48Khz sample rate is a bit of a limitation if you have higher resolution music.

If you have one, it won't do harm to try it.  May well be perfectly adequate.  Or if you have a need for other interface functions (like my guitar hero boy starting some basic home recording) it is fair value.  But I don't think it can work as a DAC/amp for music replay, so unless you have it or have another use for it you can spend you R 2000-2500 better.

Found this on Audiomart ...

Quote
Been testing for it a while now, here's my experience with it..
1. I've used an M-Audio 2x2 and found that this Behringer sounds scratchier, almost unusable with my headset, however used with studio monitors actually sounds really good by comparison. I think they were going for replicating the sound profile of old school speakers. If you want that, then this is definitely a good choice, but only for monitors/speakers

2. No crossfading or selection between headphones or speakers, if you change the volume it affects both your headset and speaker output, which is a drag if you're switching between the two a lot and don't have a mute switch for your headset.

3. Direct monitor works well, no detectable latency.

4. When using a mic, it doesn't output the same level as most other Interfaces, it has a nasty (but not onboard sound bad) noise floor, and has a weird limit on how loud it goes, only around 60% on the PC mic level.

TL;DR, if you're just using it for speakers, it's got a pretty decent sound profile that you won't get from perfect sound reproduction, especially for emulating older HiFi setups. If you're using it for production or headphones, it's pretty bad. That said, for the price, using it as a speaker only DAC it's actually pretty good, but for anything else it's not worth it. Don't use it as a headphone or DAC.

I trust my phone's dac/amp more than this

Jk.  But seriously, I have R350 headphones (JVC HA-RX330).

Point is, look at how much you're spending on actual headphones, and this excludes cables!  Then set a reasonable budget for yourself.

Do as I say, not as I do
