Indoors CCTV advice
« on: October 06, 2020, 09:54:43 AM »
I am expecting a baby in a few weeks time. Mom will be home for at least 3 months maternity leave after which the baby will be looked after by our helper. She has been with us for a few years now but with all the horror stories out there about monstrous nannies that neglect the child, sometimes assault or even kill the babies I think it is safer to at least invest on some indoor surveillance system. I need some suggestions on a simple and cost effective system to do indoor surveillance.

Hey bud, congratulations about baby.

There's another thread about CCTV as below:

https://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,89773.0.html

I have the Ezviz dome cameras which can pan 340 degrees which is good for open plan area:

You can place them anywhere convenient or you can mount them on the ceiling with included bracket.

They have a 1080p version as well.  It has built-in storage (up to 128 GB microSD card supported) so no need to purchase their cloud storage.  Note these cameras only record when movement is recorded vs 24/7 recording.  If you need 24/7 recording, then you can link the camera to the Ezviz NVR which comes built-in hard drive.

Hi Arvie

Thanks for the well wishes. I am waiting in anticipation for his arrival.
This looks like a reasonable option. At R799 it is cheap enough to get a few to put around the house. I will also read responses on the thread you attached.

Very much appreciated

Have a look at the wyze cams. Cheap as chips but good and versatile. but you may have to import it.

I use this model indoors
https://www.takealot.com/ezviz-c1c-720p-hd-wifi-ip-security-camera/PLID54966114
The app works great plus it has the ability to install an SD card and trigger recording whenever someone enters the room. It can also send you an online notification when it is trigged. It even has pretty good night vision and it is wifi so you just need power.

For outside my house I use these
https://www.takealot.com/ezviz-c3a-hd-1080p-wire-free-battery-security-camera-white/PLID53770944
They are completely wireless (so wifi and battery operated) and battery lasts about 6 weeks before it needs recharging. Because they are completely wireless you can mount them anywhere and move it around as needed.
