There were quadrophonic LPs in the 1980s, but very few and required a special cartridge, also a Sansui I think.  Fellow in Milnerton had one and about 3 LPs of classical music

I McGyvered a SONY tape recorder to play 4-track tapes.  Was a gimmick since there were only about 12 tapes and I soon got sick of the contrived sound and peculiar effects.  Was Japanese audio at its worst

Never seen this before.  The manual in the pic refers to it as Sansui 4-channel rear amplifier....."sorround sound" already way back?

I previously stated that my unit has analogue UV meters, that should obviously have read "VU meters". The included photo is some of my Sansui gear and the QS-1 is the middle unit. The quadraphonic / surround sound experiment took place in the early 1970's and whilst thousands of quadraphonic records were produced, it ended in failure due to various technical incompatibilities and also due to the cost at the time.

There is no equalizer, I believe you are referring to the unit on top which is actually the Sansui QS-100 quadraphonic synthesizer. I have the Sansui QS-1 which is the same thing but with proper analogue UV meters. Essentially, you feed the stereo signal into the unit and it generates two additional channels for the rear speakers.

Correct - I just assumed it was an equaliser. Seems to be an interesting piece of equipment.

Handy little item for those of us with too much gear.  Great for doing A/B and C....D...E etc tests
I would take it if it was cheaper, down the road from me.

The Listening Room in Cape Town is busy setting up a very high end turntable- possibly the only TT of it's kind in South Africa.

Cost: R450k to R1 million depending on configuration.

The news and invites to audition will possibly go public soon but the TT is already view able in the showroom...

Hi

Advertising this on behalf of someone known to me, goods are in Durban. Local pick up, no shipping. My accountability in this sale is updating the ad with the sellers preferences and furnishing contact details of the seller on request, which will be provided via PM should there be genuine interest. I also confirm that the seller and the advertised goods do indeed exist.

The items below have been stored for a few years, one owner from new. Some reviews indicate a very good sounding amplifier with plenty of power. The goods as per condition below (note carefully) :

Pioneer DC-Z83 double cassette with amplifier and graphic equalizer unit  (not working)
Pioneer PL-Z93 Turntable (working)
Pioneer P-Z83 Digital Tuner (working)
Pioneer Speakers (as was marketed with the set, not sure of model, working)
Yoshita WA401 CD player (Japan, 3 beam pick-up, working)

The seller would like all items to go as a bundle, asking price R2500.

Pictures to follow as provided by the seller. (Note: VCR in second pic is excluded from the sale).

Thank You.

Now available at R1400. Pics below.
Thanks
Marantz123.
