Sanders - Pex vs Gex
« on: September 07, 2020, 11:41:12 AM »
Not sure if this is the right channel ... but can anybody comment on the differences between the Bosch Pex sander:
https://www.bosch-diy.com/za/en/p/pex-220-a-0603378000-v8526
and the Bosch Gex sander:
https://www.bosch-professional.com/za/en/products/gex-125-ac-0601372565

From what I can the Gex has a handle as opposed to the Pex that seems more of a palm type sander. It also looks like the Gex can adjust the sanding speed and the Pex can't.

Any other comments, have you used either or can you recommend another sander?

I have a GEX 125-1, that looks identical to the PEX, but with speed control. It is also 250W. I think the speed control is worth it, especially if you are going to sand veneer...

Generally speaking the blue (professional) products are supposed to be able to take more abuse (work harder) than the green.

It's a bit late for sanding the veneer :) But I guess with the speed control it increases the options of using it, like using it for polishing as well. It's supposedly also better than a normal orbital sander at removing material. My orbital sander's switch is gone, and to be honest, getting the sandpaper to stay between those two clips is more effort that it's worth. The Gex 125A-1 is also on sale at Builders, so I guess I shall be on my way :rubhands:
