I don?t know if this should actually be under the DIY section? It seems everything in the DIY section is for building speakers, so I am posting here?  ???

I am in the process of renovating our TV room. My project for the weekend is to build two separate cabinets for all the different components. I already modeled the two cabinets in Autocad and detailed the manufacturing drawings; I am going to the drawings to Builders warehouse so they can cut the two big 16x2750x1830 MDF boards into the individual boards for me to assemble.

I do however need some advice to painting the MDF boards? How should I proceed? Should I sand the boards before painting? What, if any, primer should I use? Can I use water based paint, something like plascon cashmere? OR am I over complicating this, can I just give the boards one coat, assemble the cabinets and then give it another coat of the Plascon Cashmere paint?

Any and all advice would be appreciated.
