Trunking Choice for AV Room
« on: August 24, 2020, 07:20:56 PM »
Hi all - Im looking for trunking to hide some cabling at the front of my AV room. Cable that will run in there include:
4 x speaker cable (front L&R +Center and Sub)
power cable for Sub
Ethernet cable

The wall is grey and the best that I can find is either a black PVC 3 compartment Trunking from Decorduct or a 2 compartment white PVC from Legrand (links below)
The Legrand is more expensive but has a smaller profile (50 x 130mm) but will need to be painted andwill match the grey wall. The black (50 x 160mm) is slightly larger and does not need to be painted so there will be a contrast of black and grey.
I will be removing the tile skirt

It needs to look good and blend in as the screen is right above - should I be looking elsewhere or are these two options the best out there? Ive tried to find a black velvet trunking but to no avail...
Thanks in advance for suggestions/comments

Why not use the bigger fatter trunking and then paint over it in the same colour as the wall?

This stereo record cannot be played on old tin boxes no matter what they are fitted with. If you are in possession of such equipment please hand it into the nearest police station

Leroy merlin have the below quarter round trunking that depending on the thickness of the cables should be able to take four cables and you can paint it to which ever color you want.

Listening put on hold for a while, but end game reached. Couldnt be happier with my system. Next will be new room tweaks.

I see you already have tiles acting as skirting, but you could also find hollow skirting boards behind which you could run your cables.

EDIT: in fact, if you could remove that tiling stuck on the wall and create a gap/space behind it you could run your cabling behind that. Basically put a small spacer between the wall and the vertical tiles. The big pain though would be drilling holes into the tiles for the cables to be fed through. Might be easier to cut vertical slits in the tiles and cover with grout or aluminium strips.

I agree with hollow skirting.  It will definitely look nice and neat!
