So I've been working from home for the past 4 months and it looks like this will be the case for the remainder of 2020; who know what is beyond that ....

My main computer in my study is a 27" iMac (Intel i5 with 16GB ram) which is in daily use for internet browsing, personal record keeping and most importantly my main Roon server. It is simply a brilliant machine and has not had even a single hiccup in the 5 years that I have owned it.

For work I have a Lenovo laptop and at work I have three 21" monitors that I use via a docking station. At home I now only have the laptop's 14.5" display to navigate through spreadsheet, reports and documents and it is now starting to freak me out so I have decided to invest in an external monitor. I also have six 4TB HDD in my cupboard with data / music files that access via an external HDD dock when needed and I've also decided to build a pc (over the next few months as funds allow) that I will use as a storage device / gaming PC. Since we use Microsoft at work and most files / working documents are done via Teams I can then also use this PC to VPN into work and it can crunch the numbers rather than the underpowered laptop.

So with that excess of background info, I'm therefore looking for an UltraWide curved monitor (3440 x 1440). I rather prefer one big screen to multi smaller monitors. A 34" or larger of somewhere around 1440 and 144hz is preferred (I would LOVE a 49" but these are crazy expensive).

I don't have a fixed budget and will consider all options as long as I don't have to take out a second bond on my house. I've been looking at a few online stores to see what is available and have found the following items at are in stock (I've asked around an no one has any Samsung 49" models in stock - latest Odyssey G9's seems to be duds and there was a recall on the early releases):

49" AOC - 1440 / 120hz / 1ms / HDR400 / VA panel

34" Alienware - 1440 / 120hz OC / 4ms

38" LG - 1600 / 144hz / 5ms / IPS panel / Full G sync (this one will require a second bond - just look at that price)

I bought my son one of these and it is a really fantastic monitor. It is not an UltraWide and I would prefer something slightly larger but if all else fails, I could simply get another one of these:
32" Samsung - 1440 / 144hz / 4ms

Any and all thoughts and advice will be appreciated.
