I'm looking into a good preamp to match with my Quad 99 monoblocks. Running them with a Musical Fidelity A3 CD player and Monitor Audio RS6 speakers. Will either of these preamps be a good match. They're about the same price on AVSA, about R5500. Is there something elses I should consider. I demoed the Rotel RC1070 pre with the Quads, but found it too shrill at the higher frequencies. My Yamaha AS500 integrated through the headphone out hooked up to the Quads sounded better.
The ideal is to audition a preamp in my own home, with my own setup before buying.
