Hi i have an original caspian cd player and matching integrated amp .the player is redbook only as i have hundreds of cd-r discs is there a way to modify this unit to read cd-rs ? Thanks

I doubt it. 

I was told by a well known tech with a lot of philips and marantz knowledge that to read CD-R’s one of two things happen depending on player mechanism.  The laser diode gets turned up for higher intensity or the gain of the amplifier after the reading optics gets increased.   One increases laser “wear” the other doesn’t.
This is inherent in the player and done automatically. 

Does Roksan say it should read CD-R or not? Some players do and some don’t.

I sent Roksan an email and their response was red book only .I didnt ask if it was possible to modify it so that it would read cd-rs .
