Music storage
« on: March 05, 2020, 06:14:56 PM »
Please help - looking for a basic storage solution for music that I can grab via bluetooth from my iphone or could be a player as well. Need at least 200gb storage. Sound quality is not an issue. Is there something out there.....

Why not just store the music on your phone? Or stream?

just get a cheap DAP - this Fiio unit can be used as a standalone and it keeps your phone free for calls and messages - only problem is that a 512GB card is going to cost you more than the player - but you can buy one or two of those 256GB Hikvision cards from Evetech

player

Hikvision microSD cards - even 1 of these should be enough - (Guy) Gler gave me one of these when i bought the M11 from him and its more than enough for a good selection of music for portable carry - and still plenty in FLAC format too - doesn't have to be stored as mp3 to save space

then get a good set of Chi-Fi IEMs like a KZ ZSN pro for around R600 to R700 from Amazon - and for just over R4k a fairly decent mobile experience IMHO

64Gb holds a helluva lot of music.  I'm using about half of that now and it's enough to choose from for 2-3 days that i'm away. ...Mostly mp3 320, some Flac.  ...Problem is updating it, adding new stuff, I can't find any way to automate it, because I can't find anyway to reference the Android device in batch files /scripts/whatever.

Ah, ok.  That's long.  Simplest would be to take 1-2 other SD cards but...somewhat inconvenient to manage.

maybe phone them and ask them how quickly they can get it - otherwise it may even be cheaper on amazon - order the earphones and DAP from Amazon - both together will probably be under R2k - and if Amazon has stock then no issues it is under two weeks for shipping - may even be better to also get a Samsung MicroSD card from Amazon too - should be a bit more reliable (by reputation) than the hikvision (though no issues with the hikvision so far and i have the same 256GB one)

should all add up to around R2.5k and be a decent portable setup

@Katji If you use windows check out MusicBee free, no ads, extensive playlist rules and it remembers devices - so you can set up syncing rules per device. Also Fusion from the dbpoweramp folk, but thats not free and not quite as flexible - it is just for device syncing

Thanks.  :)  It reminded me, I found out a week or 2 ago, how to do it with Powerscript - I got it set up to modify the script but never got back to it.  (Thanks to @entropyagent )

I just figured how to use my Pi4 as a Plex media server with a 2TB drive connected. And can stream HQ via the Pi4 using the Plex app on my phone
Thanks
