D.I.Y hit or miss
« on: January 16, 2020, 11:14:24 PM »
So today got back from work ,and there was no power again .so I decided I'd rather look for something to fiddle with until power came back ,so my monitor audio RSW12 sub was unfortunately a victim of my spontaneous activity. I took that sub apart cz that color was bothering me since I changed my floorstanders, so I rubbed it down took it into my make shift spray booth ,and eventually with time the old color was gone (to much my excitement) ,in with the new one.now
I got it to match my tv cabinet. Wonder what is next if I come home tmrw to no electricity.
Will however post pics of the unit assembled, hope it looks as good as I hoped it to be

I know that this in no way ads value or contri utes to your topic, but I'd love to see pics of the internals, like the amp and back of the driver etc, please say you took some?

I do quite like the white

That turned out quite nice.  I do not have the guts to do something like that.  Nicely done Martin :2thumbs:

That looks awesome. How about doing a primer (see what I did there) on your diy spray booth and spraying technique for the rest of us?

Looks great - I can't really imagine what it must have looked like before (but surely the white speaker cone did not look that great matched with a light wooden cabinet).

Dr Google came to the rescue...

Thank you gents for the uplifting words. It came out nice however ,although it has that gloss look ,it doesn't have the gloss feel when you caress it ,maybe it's because of the aerosols spray paint I used .
But never the less we dont need to touch it whilst it plays .
I guess we only need to see it hey.and it really does look good

Burnishing compound and then lots of polish to restore the shine that the burnishing compound took away

To paraphrase Dr. Floyd E Toole: The famous acoustician Dr. Leo Beranek once said something like 'the sound quality of a home built loudspeaker increases with the effort put into the hand-rubbed finish'. It's true.
