I have Chord signature reference speaker cables, but only 2 metres in length.

Last week I decided to move my stereo system around in the upstairs lounge

The speaker wires weren't really long enough and ended up hanging in mid air.

A mate was about to sell his audioquest 4 metre set of Rocket 88  cables; so I borrowed them.

What a revelation!

Kicked my Chords into a cocked hat.

So now he is not getting them back, and we will have a showdown on price.

Convinced me that cable debates are REAL !!

Gentlemen and audiophiles.

I have not gone back to review what methodology you will be using, but I have a challenge for you. Whether it will be possible within the scope of this meeting (be safe!) or perhaps a task for someone with time on their hands, I would not know. I do think that this is a rare opportunity to take advantage of the range of equipment that I think will be accumulated in one place.

Here it is: identify which of the electronic hi-fi components are reactive to cable effects. Identify the most sensitive and the least sensitive. Then do your cable testing using two different setups (least sensitive/most sensitive). The fact that we have interconnects as well as speaker cable might make it a prolonged effort.

It is my hypothesis that the cable effects reported on by so many comes down to the performance of the electronics in the system.

Just installed a pair of Shunyata Sigma speaker cables in George. Replacing their previous flagship.....Anaconda Ztron.

System:

 Emm Labs Digital frontend/Audio Research Ref40 Pre/Ref 750's mono blocs/Maggie MG20.7'S

Night and Day the difference.....

The only thing that was changed were the speaker cables.....

But I guess for the non believers....both myself and the client need to submit ourselves to 21 days of isolation....

Even a mental institution will not be able to cure our disease....

And this all happened @10h00 this morning....
Bottles of Red Wine all over the place...

  :giggle:

Anyhow....tomorrow I am installing a Emm Labs DV2 Pre/Dac in Durban.

I bet you the cables is going to make all the difference  :BWAHAHAH: :BWAHAHAH:

I'm not a cable unbeliever. I don't disbelieve anybody when they say they heard a difference that a cable made. Anyway, the challenge is for anyone keen or brave enough to prove or disprove my hypothesis.
