I realise these questions are probably idiotic, but i Don't know, and I know many of you do know, so here goes:
(When I say Mains, I mean the Eskom 237VAC coming out of my wall sockets in my house.)
1. When using a transformer like the one in my picture, and I connect mains to the 220VAC input, are all the different outputs (before the bridge rectifier - visible in the picture) always AC? i.e. AC in, AC out? I suspect so, but just need absolute confirmation.
2. When I connect mains to the input, and the one output (two wires) is 240v (vac) and I connect that OUTPUT to another items that operates on mains in, does this transformer then serve as an "isolation transformer"?
Thanks,
J
