A phono preamplifier, also known as a phono stage, is an audio component that amplifies the signal from your turntable to a level that allows you to connect it to your sound system the same way you would with any other audio source.

Another important job of a phono preamp is to apply the RIAA equalization curve to the signal, reverting it back to the shape it was on the original recording, but if you?re just starting out, this may be a bit deeper than you need to go right now.
The most important thing to know is that you will need a phono preamp in order to enjoy your vinyl records.

The standard input and output caps are from Rubycon, and also in the RIAA feedback curve, we used spice to ascertain the exact RIAA curve and then added slight Bass to combat the ?loudness wars? however by carefully using the RIAA curve caps in parallel we achieved an almost precise equalization. By adding a 3,3 uf BP output cap it dropped the bottom end nicely without upsetting the RIAA curve. We named it the 1313 as M is the 13th letter of the alphabet. The 1313 is compatible with Moving Magnet type cartridges and a Moving Coil Vacuum Tube based model is in the prototyping phase.
