To all the PC gamers,
Some advice please guys.
My son (aged 12) is a keen gamer. He has had a PlayStation 4 for the past few years but most of his friends play pc games.
I promised him that if he did well at school I'll consider getting him a gaming pc for Christmas that he can then also use for school assignments etc.
He has been hogging my iMac, which is my main music server, playing a few steam titles and Roblox, so this Christmas present is more to try to get him away from my music

My last gaming PC was a 486SX33 with 4MB of ram so I've been out of the loop for 25 years. I've been doing some research albeit casually. I would like to buy something that will run most current games reasonably well. That said if I can stay within a R20k budget (excl screen and peripherals) that will be great.
Please let me know what specs are needed these days to run the modern games, also where I can get the best deals.
