God that's stupidity of the highest order, it's also full of lies...

Quote
All data and software storage is non SSD
Quote
Standard storage provisons include 280Gb of PCIe Intel Optane storage for the operating system, 2TB of PCIe storage

I think you'll find Optane is an SSD, and while nvme indeed doesn't use SATA it's still an SSD. Also what's wrong with SATA?

running under a Taiko Audio custom assembled operating system
Quote
Custom Windows 10 Enterprise

So it's Windows with bloatware....

Quote
Twelve 4Gb custom order industrial memory modules

So ECC memory then... Serves no purpose whatsoever in this use case but sure...

This "product" is genuinely just taking the piss.

A Airtop3 should be pretty close performance wise (well it stands vertically...)  for much much less.  (only 8 core/16 threads)

Sure it only has optical out...

Although mine with a GTX 1660 Ti / intel I9 is not dead silent. (some electrical noise).

Audiotweak in Capri Village (aka Ramsey Raad) can set you up with a similar product which will cost a tiny fraction of that

Some of us in Cape Town are going to hear it in action on Saturday 16th November

Stuff he's been selling for years, probably on the audiotweaks website.

All quite simple, matter of selecting suitable components, with help of google/forums. However, some people don't want to do the work, would rather pay to have it done for them. Either way, there could be some mistake.

Windows 10 Enterprise?  Maybe something to do with networking? (isn't it like 8.1, Home and Professional ?) Surely it should be an option.

So basically take the most expensive of everything and throw it together and charge top dollar for it. The PC needs a linear power supply with 700,000MF capacitance?

And a SOTA process schedulers? SOTA being State of the Art. So ... what?

Dual Xeon? And it's .... streaming music. So "audiophile streaming" flat out using like 0.00001% of its actual capability. And it's only at the DAC that anything will even start to make the difference.

Some people are just asshats.

But the original, R400K? You know what you can do with R400K?  There are some very nice speakers being talked about lately that cost half of that.

Money is all relative

Won some tickets to a French Champagne tasting at the Vineyard Hotel in Newlands yesterday.  In the same room were 2 BMW M3 cars on display, one R1.3m, one R1.4m.  The sales lady told me towards the end of the afternoon that she had 2 definite sales and 3 enquiries

So you can never tell.  There was a purpose in bringing these cars to a R700 a head tasting

At least you can actually drive the Beemers to muchof their capacity (even if you are breaking the law). That PC is like trapping the Beemer on a go-kart track.

The computer that Audiotweak sells

Is very quiet (both audibly - no fan) and electrically
Looks the part
Is suitable for the person to whom the price is immaterial

And there are quite a few of these, even today

Whether is any better than a computer with an SSD I have no idea.  Perhaps my ears are incapable of discerning the difference

At this forthcoming meeting, we are also going to listen to some new Axis Voicebox speakers

I actually borrowed the Music Server and after consideration, decided that a MacBook and a Devialet (that I already have) did the trick.  The music is on a 6Tb drive or Tidal any way
