I suspect I need to replace that whole mechanical section. So the whole laser and tray assembly.
It does not even open, and when i open the unit and insert the disk from within, it spins a bit then tells me there is no disk.
This portion was invented by phillips. So now i?m wondering. Does it follow some sort of standard? Can I take another one from another source and try to make it work there?
There is a couple of motor wires for the tray, there is the ribon from the lense. In theory even a computer cd rom might work? If there is some sort of iso standard with regards to these devices?
