A discussion on record clamps got me thinking of dished platters.  This has probably all been covered before - nothing new under the sun, etc.

When a disc is placed on a dished platter and a weight or clamp is used, the surface of the record is no longer level - it slopes down towards the spindle.  So we adjust the cartridge azimuth (if possible) so that it runs parallel to the record's surface, but now there are new issues:

1.  The forces on the stylus are no longer aligned with the vertical axis of the tone-arm.
2.  The path of the cartridge and arm is 'downhill' towards the spindle

Is it worth remedying this by extreme measures? Like adjusting the plinth so that the segment of the platter along the path of the tone-arm is level, and then also counter adjusting the tone-arm base/mounting so that is also absolutely level.

Just wondering if anyone here has gone to these lengths, an whether it was worth the effort.
