hi
would like some advice please
in april i bought an lp12 from private seller in jhb
i had it picked up by the courier company that i normally use and when it arrived it had significant damage to the lid and minor damage to the baseboard........see pics
now the seller took extreme care to secure the package.....removing the platter, securing the tonearm etc.....
i immediately contacted the courier company and submitted a claim as it was insured with them
over the next few months they requested document after document......
the representative from the courier company stopped replying to my emails and asked my to contact their commercial claims broker who liaises with their insurance broker and
over the last few months they have requested the following:

01.  Complete set of original suppliers invoice dated & valued prior to the
loss and packing list
02.  Where did the damages occur and when was it discovered?
03.  Terms of Sale for this shipment
04.  Endorsed Delivery Notes
05.  Pro-forma claim against all liable parties
06.  Clear photographs of the damaged goods
07.  Repair Quotes / Detailed price claim - on each damaged item from authorised repairer/dealer.
08.  Detailed damage report  rom authorised repairer/dealer.
09.  Senders address and telephone numbers

after many months of emails and telephone calls....i got this response today

Good Afternoon

Based on all the information received, the Insurer has concluded that none of the information provided  supports  a claim against our client.

From previous communications it was confirmed that the item is at the very least a second hand item and over 20 years old.

We have not been provided with information to confirm that our client was responsible for damage to the item per se.

The insurer regrets to advise, that in light of the above no claim will be entertained herein.

Kind Regards.

I really dont know what to do now.....
its not alot of money............not even with my effort already..
but i cant believe this is the level of service one has to contend with
i shudder to think what "information to confirm that our client was responsible for the damage to the item per se" is......
showing photographs of the item damaged whilst still in its packaging is not enough and the seller stating that he sent it in good condition...

anyways..
looking forward to hearing any suggestions or comments
many thanks
