I have been doing a lot of research on the Ubiquiti Unifi products. I will probably be buying the following early next year after testing the HD for 3-4 months.

This is the stuff i plan on getting as a start:

- Ubiquiti UniFi Cloud Key G2+
- Ubiquiti Unifi Security Gateway Router + Firewall
- Ubiquiti 8 Port Gigabit 4x802.3af PoE 60W Switch
- Ubiquiti UniFi Dual Band AC Long Range AP

I love the fact that it is modular and that if you need to upgrade something you dont need to upgrade the whole system.

That is almost exactly what I have in my house in Cape Town, I have the 16 port rackmount PoE switch and the USG Pro. A great setup and very, very robust. I also have 4 G3 Flex cameras as well.

Very cool. Do you know if the router will be able to manage 1gbps line?

Downloading the internet for off line use. Lol. I kid. I like having a fast line for when I do need to download something. Downloading games and updates in 5min is also great. I am also paying the same for this line as I would a 200mbps line so why not?

I haven't had a link that fast yet, still on 50/50 as the house is rented out on AirBNB so high speed not necessary however I have seen multiple articles with people stating they get >900mbps even with the smaller USG.

You must note one thing though

UniFi's Intrusion Prevention System will protect your network from attacks and malicious activity. It will block and shut down connections that could compromise your security.

Warning: Enabling Threat Management will affect the UniFi Security Gateway 4P maximum throughput (250 Mbps).

Warning: Enabling Threat Management will disable hardware offload.

So i got the Ubiquiti Unifi Security Gateway Router + Firewall and the Ubiquiti UniFi Dual Band AC Long Range AP. This is really an awesome system if you like going into the guts of your network easily. I did not get the cloud key yet but i am using the controller on my server that is always on anyway. I dont know if i am going to get the cloud key anymore but i might do much later. I am using a dlink 16 port switch with a few smaller switches that i am planning to change to Unifi 24 port switch at a later stage. I highly recommend Ubiquiti.

For those that want all the awesomeness of Ubiquiti but easier setup and basically plug and play the Amplifi HD is awesome. Massive wifi and awesome app. Almost sad to let mine go.

On a side note, i do get the full 1gbps speeds through the USG.
