Hi

Thank you for all the advice. After some testing i am happy with the Apple Airport Extremes. I think i am going to wait for 802.11AX or WiFi 6. Asus have some routers out at the moment but they are about R8-10k.

I am seriously looking at the Ubiquiti stuff though. Will wait for the WiFi 6 stuff though. Will upgrade to a 10gbps network at the same time.

For ease of use and household coverage the Amplifi stuff by Ubiquiti is very nice

Forgot to mention, if you want Ubiquiti I can assist with trade prices. The offer is open to anyone on this forum

Unfortunately not, I don't think anyone brings those in to SA. I may be wrong though

Completely agree. I got a amplifi hd a few weeks back and wont look back. Super easy to use, installation was literally minutes and my wifi has never been as stable and consistent. Im not even using the mesh points.

I installed an AMPLIFI for a friend of mine. Works very well. So well in fact that I bought one for myself too. The problem that I have is that it limits me to 800mbps on Ethernet, on my AirPort Extreme I got 950mbps and sometime the full 1000mbps depending on the Speedtest.net server. So if you have a 1gbps line it might hamper it.

What cable are you using between the fibre termination and Amplifi Router? Cat6?

Did you get the HD or Instant? I have seen this issue on a few forums with the Instant and the resolution was to turn on hardware NAT in the options to get full throughput
