I found a pair of what appears to be a very rare pair of speakers, Yamaha FX-3. They are very similar to the legendary NS1000 monitors but with slightly revised beryllium drivers and larger 15 inch woofers, they also weigh a ton(62kgs each) and the cabs are massive!
Does anyone know if the woofers on these originally had rubber or foam surrounds? They currently have rubber surrounds but I suspect these are not the original surrounds..
Also who would you recommend sending the woofer to for new surrounds? I have only ever heard good things of Merle but never actually seen her work in person, I definitely wont let the hack at resonant frequency touch them.
