Let me first state that I am no expert with valves. This is my first experience.

Recently received two valve pre-amplifier/buffers from China. They are the cheap ones you buy off Ali Express. Called FX Audio.

In preparation I purchased off a forum member some valves (EF95/CV850/6AK5) to replace the Chinese ones that comes with the units.

I bought one pair of Philips EF95 and one pair Mullard CV850.

Hooked up the two units to two different set ups off one common amplifier.

My impressions are that the Phillips valves are smooth and warm straight off the bat. The Mullards are warm and a tad bright. Lacking a bit of smoothness.

Will the Mullards improve over time?

Will buy more spare valves. Leaning more towards the Philips.

These are just my initial impressions.
