Wanted: old, basic point and shoot digital camera
« on: May 15, 2019, 04:13:21 PM »
One of the grooms where I stable my horse is looking for a digital camera to take pictures for his family and to email them home in Malawi. So nothing fancy at all needed - a really basic muk en druk thing tat someone here may have lying around forgotten in a desk drawer. I used to have exactly what he needs lying around at home, but it seems to have gone missing/been given away during one of my moves. If anyone here has such, please PM me a price so that I can ask him. I'm based in Jhb. The grooms are generally paid pretty badly, so I doubt his budget is more than R500.

Thanks Ron, appreciated. I had an old Sony that still used 2 AA batteries that would have been ideal for him, but no idea where it went.  >:(

Wouldn't a cell phone be better? Then he can send pics via WhatsApp?

I have an Benq - 12 mega pixels - 3x optical zoom - "mik & druk" camera . Works 100%
Comes with carry bag & 4GB memory card
Works with 2x AA batteries.

He can have it for free

my first look through revealed nothing but an empty case where a camera used to be - i will need to take a proper look on the weekend but it seems to be mia.

interestingly enough i did find a rather large spool of 3 core wire... i have never in my life ever felt the need for 3 core wire, much less bought it.

i have to guess that the fibre installation guys left it here.

Taking pictures of their fibre installations with your MIA camera no doubt.  :angrywife:

Reminds me when my never-worn 14-ups oxblood Doc Martins (Bought from Moolas in Small street Mall in the 80's for a small fortune went walkies by themselves after we had builders in the house.

From what I've seen the cellphones these guys have are generally more basic than what we're used to, and to afford data to send multiple pics is highly unlikely.  :(

Hi Lexor, thanks - I'll pm you now, but I'll insist he at least give you something for it to make sure he appreciates this.
