I want a chocolately mid-range like was said

The resistance criteria is pretty obvious.   2.5mm dia cable for speakers is fine, whatever it is made of, or coated with, what the insulator is (IMHO of course)

And the important fact:  It must be based on science
Music is the shorthand of emotion

Umm it actually does, I had some esoteric XLR cables on loan, which I eventually removed and sent back to the distributor who kindly loaned them to me.

Then last night I sat down to listen on my system with my usual XLR cables back in place (which for full disclosure are I must admit also on the esoteric side), what a huge difference between mine and the ones I had previously on loan.

Just silence, dead silence like I have never heard before, the ones on loan could never replicate or match that silence.

I had forgotten to actually plug my old cables back in at all.

Does it matter what quality of RCA cables you use from AV Receiver to an Amplifier?

Oh yes, you cannot skimp on that

The plugs themselves must be thick gold plate and have 2 securing screws 90 deg apart
The cable must be at least 8mm thick, have double-screened insulation with a foil inside
There are 2 inner conductors
On the source side, you only use one of the inner conductors
On the amp side, the unused conductor is connected to the shield

If you do not do it like this, the treble will lack substance, the mid-range will be diffuse and wave about and the bass will be flabby

Then, you must not allow the cable to touch the ground.  Patented cable lifters will fix that problem for you

Thanks. In all seriousness, I found that video quite interesting. Particularly the part about capacitance in the cables and the effect that has, in effect using it as a 'tone control / equalizer' or as an amp destroyer (if I understood correctly)... Stuff I didn't know about.
