I have been having problems with my WAP lately. After I switch it on, it runs for about 5 minutes before it trips the power (earth leakage switch).

I first inspected the power cord for damage (none visible) and then changed the plug - no difference.

Then I opened it up and found that a mounting screw had pierced the one black wire going to (what I think is) the spark suppressor.
(I see there is a spelling mistake in my pictures  :) )
The wire was exposed, frayed but not severed. I repaired it - no difference.

Then I removed the spark suppressor and little resistor? (see pics later) from it's resin-potted container - they look good?

In the pictures that follow I show the unit that I think is the spark suppressor, the on/off switch and the motor start capacitor,
in case any of this may shed any light on the issue.

What might it be?
1. The spark suppressor?
2. The motor start capacitor?
3. The on-off switch?

I would really like to fix this nice vacuum cleaner, so all advice and ideas would be welcome, and will try them one-by-one until it works again.
