So .....i want to convert a basement area in my house into a movie room.

I do have some older stuff that i can going...and replace as i go with nice new 4k/ wifi/ bluethooth stuff.

The stupid questions.
Do one really need bluetooth and wifi in the av reciever if the blu ray player has it?

All inputs appreciated.

First off, no such thing as a stupid question  ^-^

Second, I'm hardly an expert and I'm certain you will get lots of brilliant advice here.

Third, I guess it depends on what the BluRay player can do in terms of functionality with it's BlueTooth and WiFi and what you want from it.

For instance, with it's WiFi, can it natively stream Spotify, Google Play Music, Tidal? If these are services you look to use.
There are limitations regarding Bluetooth streaming quality, it may be able to stream from from a phone, but it may have older/basic Bluetooth thus being of a possible lesser quality.

I think start off by listing all the makes and models of the equipment you have, and folk here will be able to help you out better.

And welcome by the way

Also there is a lot to factor in as well.
Do you go for a projector vs large TV ?

Sabreme:
How many speakers do you want surround  ?

5.1
5.2
7.1
7.1
9.2
11.2

Then of course there is budget.
