Strange looking speakers suspect DIY

I saw these speakers today and wonder if anyone has info on them. They are offered together with a vintage Pioneer reciever and a Sony tape deck.

Saw something nearly the same at Moving On's warehouse in Muizenberg.  The other stuff was bits and bobs of home-made furniture.  I persuaded the fellow there to let me connect them to a tuner and they sounded very good. but boomy when put next to a wall

The covering was actually textured wallpaper as I could see a corner lifting

Nothing wrong with SEAS drivers.  I'd offer R500

A similar speaker was exibited here some time ago and iirc, was designed for outdoor use with an omni-directional radiator/reflector above the speaker cone. This may be wonderful for use in a garden or outdoor if its meant for such use. The Pioneer KX440....is somewhat sought after for some reason...there were a few members looking for this...and something that caught my attention in the background is what looks like a pair of AR18's (or a pair of Tedelex   :sulky:..)  stacked next to that music centre...if AR's which may need new surrounds by now....and if all the drivers are working...definitely dont leave them there, they are amazing !!! Maybe someone can pitch in about the tape deck ?
