I would like to make up a pair of high-quality phono cables (about 1.5m in length).
They will do duty between an SME 3009 arm and a variety of phono pre-amps, starting with a Bel Canto.
The SME arm has female RCA sockets coming out of the side, not the bottom. The cut-out in the plinth is not really suited to this,
so a plan must be made.
Either I convert the SME to have "downward-pointing" female RCA sockets, or I need good-quality right-angle RCA connectors on one side
of the cables. Any thoughts on this, or different ideas?
So I need the following information:
1. What high-quality cable to use, and where do I buy it locally? Cardas, Mogami or what? (I will need about 4m in total).
2. Which standard RCA male connectors do I use with this cable? Is Amphenol good enough? If not, what, and where do I buy them?
3. If I go for right-angle RCA plugs at the SME end, are there suitable high-quality one's available? And where?
All advice and ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Johan
