Dust collector for woodworking
« on: July 24, 2018, 03:04:46 PM »
Hi, which dust collector would you recommend for a weekend woodworker?

Metabo SPA 1200 @ R4880
Jet DC900 @ R6950

Both use 0.55kW motors and have similar performance. To be used mainly with a 300mm jointer/thicknesser.

Thanks

Hi

Also try Adendorffs Powertools and Machinery, you may find a similairly specced but cheaper versions there.

Build your own cyclone from a dustbin. http://www.jpthien.com/smf/index.php?topic=137.0

No real experience with dust collectors, but I can say that the one piece of equipment I bought from Adendorff didn't impress me and was sold on without being used more than a couple of times. I get the impression they sell Chinese goods that may or may not be durable. Accuracy isn't really an issue in this case so not very relevant.

Jet is very good stuff, but so is Metabo. For weekend use I'd probably go for the Metabo, only because it's cheaper.
