Step-down transformers 220 - 110v

Hello People,

I am just about to fly back to SA from the USA with two hefty pieces of audio kit designed for 110V. My initial aim was to have the transformers adapted for 220V, but I suddenly thought that maybe there was a way to step the 220V down to 110V and clean the power simultaneously?

Any ideas welcome.
