Okay, so it's basically a Class-A biased (up to 10W) 20W power amp based on some fancy new kind of "constant transconductance" circuit.
Afaik this circuit design was first used in the output stage of the new(ish) Lyr III.
So this is Schiit's take on the low-powered, solid-state amp niche that First Watt, Valvet and others are playing in.
Which I think is smart.
Everyone is trying to make the latest, greatest, high-power amp to drive the majority of speakers of the world.
Other than the valve amp (esp. SET) manufacturers, not a lot brands are catering to high-efficiency speaker crowd.
And generally not at this price level. First Watt amps are $3000 up. At $799 projected, this could be a game-changer.

It screams current dumping In 2018 to me but I am not so clever.

And yet again Schiit seems like the only audio company doing anything particularly interesting in the industry. I love this! Low cost multibit DACs, monster power headphone amplifiers and low-power speaker amplifiers. They do everything backwards :)

It looks good, particularly in monoblock form. XLR input and 80/160W in 8/4 ohms. The important part here is 4ohm bridged power. (stable at 4ohm)

I have however been hesitant after seeing how the Vidar is assembled (youtube video).

I myself would take much more time/care and attention to detail (electromechanical...)  to assemble if it was offered in kit form. (firmware pre-programmed and not put straight into a conductive electrostatic bag after just being powered on...)
