300 ml beverage cans
« on: September 26, 2018, 09:03:54 PM »
I notice that 300ml (millilitre, never 'mil', since 'mil' is an Imperial measure of length) cans of Coke,  Fanta, Sprite seem to have displaced the still-crappy 330ml that were pushed upon us in place of the very satisfactory 340ml.

Is this just a temporary fashion trend, or are we being fleeced yet again?
If 300ml is all that will we sold, I'll be changing to bottles.

It's to sell a can/bottle at the same price as a 340/330. Blame the sugar tax and higher input costs. Have a look at a normal cadbury slab. They made the blocks bigger but the whole slab smaller. People tend to be more health conscious now anyways. They want less and don't want to feel guilty. So they'll give up a few more rands. If you don't buy a lot of chocolates, the saving per chocolate given up is marginal anyway.

440ml, but yeah, it's done.  12% reduction in size.

See that at Ultra Liquors, some of the craft beers are R33,00 for a 500ml bottle.   The India Pale Ale seems to be the most expensive.

I've paid R50 for a 500ml craft beer before.  If it's good enough, I'll pay for it.

Windhoek Draught went from 500ml cans & bottles to 440ml a while ago already.  :ticked:

At least the imported Weiss is all still 500ml, but at R40+ a bottle it's getting a bit costly at the rate I consume the stuff.
