AVR pre-out woes- help!
« on: September 26, 2018, 12:14:52 PM »
My Marantz SR6005 pre-out (L&R) was routed via a Lindemann Musicbook (pre) to monoblocks for the last month or 2.

I found that L&R weren't working. Fiddling with the setup GUI sometimes got it going, then nada.
It does output directly to all channels (no pre-outs).
Swapped out cables. Reset the Lindemann to factory default and set up again. Reset the microprocessor on the Marantz and set up again.
Got Audyssey to work, then nothing from the L&R before I could watch anything. A very very faint signal when doing test tones, sometimes, sometimes not.

The 6005 firmware upgrades can only be done by agents. Don't know if that would help.

Any suggestions?

Power both down for a few hours and try again.   I suspect one of the processors has locked
Even duct tape can’t fix stupid… but it can muffle the sound

Thanks. Tried that. This has been a process over a few days, cos I had to grab other cables (and speakers) as big spades won't fit the Marantz.

My Denon AVR X4200W does the same, the Surround Back pre-outs don't work.

Hi, not meaning to sound funny, but why not contact the agents?  Marantz are represented by HFX?

I have. Spoke to Dbn outlet and to Johan at HFX and he (like me) reckons that pre-out is kaput.
It's not something that he's come across before.
I'll send it for repair one of these days, but not a priority right now.
