Looking for a road test of a Mitsubishi ASX
« on: September 15, 2018, 08:32:41 AM »
I see the car was tested in the December issue of 2011. Any chance that someone could sell me that issue? Or if possible a scan of the test only would be appreciated a lot.
That page containing the test/performance results is all I need.
Thanks!

Bumb.
Sorry, I see now I did not mention the magazine. The road test was in the CAR magazine of December 2011. Guys, it would be appreciated a lot.

What specifically about the car are you looking for?  I did quite some research on the car before I opted for my CR-V and know a bit about it.  Can't you use other reviews?

Hi Toxxyc. There are a lot of reviews about this car, and lots of videos on YouTube. However, I would like the performance test results, real life fuel consumption etc as tested by CAR magazine. I have found that their tests are 100% spot-on.
Almost all my previous cars I've owned were tested by CAR and my actual fuel consumption are almost the same they got while testing the cars. From as far back as the 80's when I owned a Kadett 1.6 GSE till now.
I would very much like to read their complete test, performance test included.
The same car tested elsewhere in the world will not give the same results?

As far as I know CAR will send you the test if you contact them. There may be a fee involved.

That is true. I have done this in the past. But my recent emails remains unanswered. I will do follow-up mails.

Two useful Car articles to help you:

If you like formulae: http://www.carmag.co.za/technical-blog/claimed-vs-real-fuel-consumption/
If you don't: http://www.carmag.co.za/magazine-issues/november-2015/

Quote: "Representative fuel economy is the reason CAR magazine does its own fuel run for every vehicle we test. The route is 100 km long and contains a mix of urban and highway driving. For vehicles we haven’t tested, we quote the CAR fuel index figure, which is the manufacturer’s claimed figure plus an extra 20%. "

If you can't get hold of a copy of the actual test, I would suggest that you add 25% or 30% instead of 20% to get a more realistic 'estimate' for real world usage. This is my approximation to take into account 1. greater traffic congestion nowadays 2. Generally less patience of the average driver.

Of course, one of the most significant variables is between our ears, for example the way I drive compared to the way you drive!

Cheers,
JayJay

Thanks. This helps.
I still want the performance test results. Tractability test results etc.

If someone might have a collection of old car magazines. I would appreciate a photo or scan of that performance test results page. The whole test is not needed, just that single page.

I am also prepared to buy the books if someone might be selling.
I would like to buy all the issues from January 2011 to December 2013. Then I should be sorted. I have from 2014 on wards.

I'm assuming you've already looked around for other road tests?
eg local Car magazine short test: http://www.carmag.co.za/road-tests-blog/mitsubishi-asx-20-mpi-4x2/
eg review from UK Car: https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/mitsubishi/asx/verdict

Your second link is for a 1.6, which we do not even get in SA :(
I will post a photo later to show just what I need and how nice it is.

Well D&D, at least you are starting to look at more reliable cars.
As long as you are happy to forgo bootspace, the ASX is generally a good, if uninspiring car.

Hey. My Kuga have been 100% reliable so far. ;D

I bought a backup issue from a guy on Bob. Just still waiting for it to arrive.

Why not just look at the digital version? Download the app and see if they have the issue you want. Buy the issue. Enjoy.

I missed out on you buying that. Is it a 1.6T? I bet there was some serious bargains to be had.
