Help needed with a Sanyo plus Q40 turntable
« on: September 13, 2018, 08:20:57 AM »
Morning

I purchased the Sanyo turntable for next to nothing.
Everything works as it should.
The problem is that there is no Headshell, cartridge or stylus, just a straight arm with wires coming out of it.

What are my options?

Thanks

Option 1
Return,
get your next to nothing back,
Buy a working turntable.

Option 2
Hope that incredible luck will save you from any other latent defects, net you that hen's teeth headshells and that hs, cartridge and a likely repair effort by someone that actually knows what he's doing will cost no more than twice what you could have paid for a working TT.

Option 3
Set it in fire and write off the cost to lesson learned?

My Appologies
I looked at it again, and the headshell is there, the part with the screws that enter from the top.
Is there another cartridge/ stylus option that I could use?

Yes, pretty much any. Audio Technica AT91 or AT95E would be economical choice.

I love music - analog and digital. Even listening to the Blues makes me happy. During the day I coach and counsel, after hours I indulge in my second passion - listening to vinyl and restoring turntables. Some I keep, some I sell...

Soooo, is you turntable  up and running yet? Maybe post a pic or 2 and remember that fitting/aligning the cartridge must be done in a specific "position".  Also tracking and antiskate force adjustment
