Please. Denon X6300h avr help
« on: September 01, 2018, 03:56:40 PM »
Hi all
I recently added a power Amp to my setup to power the front left and right speakers for 2ch stereo listening - this worked very well.
I've since connected four atmos speakers to run a 5.1.4 system. Problem is that 2ch stereo listening now has reverted back to as if there is no power Amp.  There was a noticeable difference before the atmos speakers were installed. Now there is no difference in sound whether the power Amp is connected or not.
I think this may have something to do with the Amp assign settings on the receiver - it's currently set to 9ch with zone 2 and 3 as pre.

Watching movies works well but I need help with the stereo setup.

Thanks

My 4300 is set up exactly the same and works perfectly (though it is not really used for stereo).
Only difference is that zone 2 & 3 are disabled as I donít use them.

Have you tried source direct for stereo, so no processing?

I'll take a photo of my config when I get home tonight and post it here.

Something is wrong though. Why have you get 2 sets of main speakers?

Looks like your assign mode is wrong.

Here is mine. Remember I have the 4300. It only has amps for 9 channels. As I do 11 channels for 7.2.4, the 2 front speakers must get power from an external power amp.

On your 6300 you have 11 onboard amps. If you do only 5.2.4 you only need 9 channels to operate. You need to set your amp assign to 9.1 channels. The pre-outs are always in operation. You then connect the front speakers (left and right) pre-outs to an external power amp. Your front speakers are then hooked up the power amp. IMPORTANT, the speaker cable for the front speakers go the power amp NOT the AVR.

You need to get rid of the "9.1 channel + front B". The front B is the issue. It is used if you have a second set of front speakers. Yours must only say "9.1 channel + zone 2". You will not need zone 2 but internally in the 6300 the spare 2 amps of the available 11 amps have been assigned to zone 2.

Good news!
this has solved the problem. there seem to be a few other options like 9.1 plus zone2/zone 3 and zone 3 only - will give them a try but your option above works great

thank you!
