I've been following xrapidx's thread here and while we have very similar equipment, he chose the Polk Audio FXi A6 surrounds and I chose the Polk Audio RTi A3 bookshelf.
While I never approached a designer for help to spec my system and inspect my layout, I thought I chose a pretty decent setup. I quite frankly never even noticed the FXi surround speakers!
Full spec:
PS50B850 Samsung Series 8 Plasma 50"
Onkyo TX-SR707 7.2 AV Receiver
Polk Audio RTi A7 floor standing speakers bi-amped
Polk Audio CSi A6 center speaker
Polk Audio RTi A3 bookshelf speakers
QED Speaker Cables Silver Anniversary-XT
Polk Audio DSW 500 Pro Digital sub woofer
Pace TDS850 HD PVR decoder via digital coax/HDMI
Sony PS3 Slim 120GB via optical/HDMI
Is it a problem to use the A3's as surround speakers? I mean if I look at the situation now, it would seem that A3's are for users who want a more discreet front speaker and as such, would replace the RTi A7, for example. Then you obviously get the opportunity to use nice speaker stands or something.
