Have this graphics card: Nvidia Geforce 6800XT Xtreme 256MB XFX
Plugged it in to an old Windows 7 PC, as I am in the process of building an entry-level gaming pc for my son.

I realise that it is a VERY old card, but as the games I intent playing are equally old, I reckon it has sufficient pricessing power.
(It just occured to me that I didn't plug a power cable into the 4-pin connector on the card.
Here the problem; with the card plugged-in, the PC will not start windows. It sometimes goes to the screen where one presses the F keys for boot options, but then the keyboard doesn't work in order to make a selection.
Windows starts normally when I remove the card.
Is the card stuffed?
