LG 55" LED TV

Hey..  I managed to get my hands on an LED TV with an image defect. Basically it has lines running horizontally across the display, till about half way through the display. I've attached some pictures. I did a little googling and found a thread of hope that said I might be able to rectify the problem by replacing the tconn board. I also found alot of advice to the contrary. Apparently horizontal lines across the screen mean the panel is malfunctioning, but because the lines didn't go all the way across and I managed to source the board cheaply in China, I thought I'd give it a try anyway. No luck. There are also 2 ribbon cables which go into the tconn board, which I switched around with no change in the image. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
