« on: July 30, 2018, 11:46:02 AM »
Hows it fellow forumites
I have found an old pair of akai speakers at my ladies house.
Im totally obsessed with vintage sound but moreso speakers. My nake is Ramon and i have a problem :moron:
The woofers look ok,the surrounds are also inverted which ive never aeen before. The mids and tweets are done.

What do you guys think? How do i go about bring these back to life. Where would i source drivers???

Any advice and suggestions appreciated

Hope pics are visible.

Those surrounds seem fine. They have been installed that way! As long as they dont have cracks(rubber) or are perished(foam) or havn't gone hard they should be fine! Push them gently in using two hands equally on each side to check for coil rub. If they move smoothly and return on their own to the centre position, they should be fine!
I have no idea how you are going to solve the mid/tweeter problem though.
It might not make financial sense to repaire them!

If you just want sound try car audio places for drivers for mid and tweeter. Also Chinese electronics shops and repair shops for audio carry drivers of various sizes. You wont get the original drivers new anywhere
